Georgiana School Celebrates 100th Day

Georgiana School elementary students celebrated their 100th day of school on Monday, January 26th. At the 100th minute of the 100th day, students and teachers assembled in the elementary halls to do their Get Physical 100 Activity (jumping jacks, wall push-ups, lunges, line hopping and more). Mrs. Candace Powell coordinated the 100th Day exercises and activity.

December Terrific Kids

Georgiana's December Terrific Kids were recognized during the monthly program on January 16th.  Congratulations to these students on their accomplishments!

ACT WorkKeys Testing Dates

ACT WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system that helps employers select, hire, train, develop, and retain a high-performance workforce. This series of tests measures foundational and soft skills and offers specialized assessments to target institutional needs.

The paper based version of ACT WorkKeys will be given to all 12th graders at Greenville High and Georgiana on February 10th. McKenzie will be taking the computer based version.

Butler County Schools Helmet Safety Awareness Video Contest

Parenting Classes

Join us for a Parenting Class!  Every Monday from January 26th to March 2nd. Classes will begin at 5:00 in the Georgiana School Library.

LBWCC Scholarship Applications

Scholarship applications for LBWCC are now open for both your graduating students and those who will participate in dual enrollment next year (beginning Fall 2015). The application and criteria are available at this link:

The deadline for submission of all information is Monday, March 2, 2015. Dual enrollment scholarships are due Friday, March 27.  This is the only opportunity your students will have to apply for scholarships for academic dual enrollment classes.

Regions Scholarship Opportunity

Regions Riding Forward Essay Contest is now accepting entries through February 26, 2015. 16 scholarships of $5,000 each are available to high school students living in states with Regions branches and 16 scholarships of $3.500 each are available to college freshmen, sophmores or juniors from or currently attneding college in states with Regions branches. Pre-K Registration at Georgiana School

Alabama’s nationally recognized First Class Pre-K at McKenzie High School is now accepting applications for the 2015-2016 school year. Enrollment is open to all children four years of age who are residents of the state of Alabama.

Application deadline is February 23, 2014.

Georgiana started their K-6 Terrific Kid program this school year.  Terrific Kids is a student-recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem and perseverance.  “Terrific” is an acronym for Thoughtful, Enthusiastic, Respectful, Responsible, Inclusive, Friendly, Inquisitive and Capable.

District Reading Fair Competition

The BCSS held the 2014-2015 District Reading Fair on December 11, 2014. Winners were chosen from each grade level in the fiction and Nonfiction categories. Congratulations to all winners!  The district winners’ tri-folds will be on display at the Greenville Public Library December 5th- December 18th.
