  • School Meals Free Thanks to USDA Waiver

    Beginning September 8, 2020 through December 18, 2020 all breakfasts and lunches will be free of charge to all students 18 years of age and under. The Butler County Board of Education is pleased to be able to assist our families with this savings through the USDA Summer Food Service Program waiver extension. We look forward to students returning on Tuesday!

  • Alabama 2020 Census Bowl

    Want to help Butler County Schools win $65,000? All you have to do is take the 2020 Census. Butler County has been placed in the Alabama Census Bowl. The Bowl places 32 counties head-to-head in a four-week competition to see who can get more residents to complete the census. Each week, counties will face each other in a bracket system. And each week, only the most dedicated will move ahead. Please help us beat Russell County in week one by taking the census today! Make it count.

  • Alabama Broadband Connectivity for Students

    Gov. Ivey has committed $100 million in Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding to deliver free internet access to eligible K-12 students in their homes this fall. The State of Alabama is using the funds to purchase internet service for low-income households with K-12 students so students can participate in distance learning.   • BCSS School Calendar Revised - Students Return to School on September 8, 2020

    The Butler County Board of Education voted to revise the Butler County School System Calendar to delay students return to school until Tuesday, September 8, 2020. Teachers and support staff will return to school on Monday, August 17, 2020 as originally scheduled for intense training and preparation for the delivery of instruction to students in the traditional classroom setting, as well as, the new virtual platform that will be provided.
