  • Shealy Wins 2024 DYW Title

    Congratulations to Greenville High School Senior, Anne Elise Shealy on being chosen as the 2024 Distinguished Young Women of Butler County. Shealy was awarded the “Be Your Best Self” essay, talent, fitness, self-expression, and interview. She earned a $1,500 cash Scholarship for winning the DYW title, a $3000 scholarship to Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, and will represent Butler County at the state program in January.

  • McNaughton Selected as National Teacher Ambassador for FFA

    Ryan McNaughton, Agriscience Teacher at McKenzie School has been selected to serve as the State of Alabama's National Teacher Ambassador for FFA for the 2023-2024 school year. This is a great honor for Mr. McNaughton and for our school system.

  • Butler County Commission Adopts Resolution Granting 25% of SSUT to Butler County Schools

    On Monday, April 10, 2023, the Butler County Commission unanimously adopted a resolution granting the Butler County School System 25% of the Simplified Sellers Use Tax (SSUT), more commonly called “internet sales tax” that Butler County receives from the State of Alabama.

    BCSS Pre-K Classrooms Receive Grants

    The Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education (ADECE) is committed to ensuring children birth through age 8 have high quality learning experiences in environments designed to support their optimal development. As part of this commitment to excellence in early childhood education, funding was made available to improve the outdoor playground environment of First Class Pre-K, First Class Foundation, and/or other designated, state licensed early learning programs that provide services to children birth through age 5.

    All Staff/Stakeholders - Please take the time to respond to our 2023 Federal Programs Needs Assessment survey. The link to the survey is below. This survey helps us to determine our priorities for our Consolidated Plan and for federal spending for our district.     The Butler County Board of Education approved the following substitute employee pay increase at its regular meeting on January 19, 2023.  This increase will become effective March 1, 2023.

    Work has begun on a long awaited and anticipated football stadium on the campus of Greenville High School as well as a new gymnasium on the campus of McKenzie School and a new press box at the Georgiana School’s Harmon Field.

  • PowerSchool Returning Student Registration

    Butler County Schools is excited to announce online Returning Student Registration for this school year! This online process replaces the paper forms sent home at the beginning of each school year. Returning Student Registration is REQUIRED using your PowerSchool Parent Account. Letters with Access IDs and passwords have been sent home and are included on each Progress Report. Please follow the steps on the letter to complete the registration process. Parents, this REQUIRED registration process is critical for your child’s school to have the most updated information in case of an emergency and school notifications.   • ALSDE Releases 2021-2022 Report Cards

    The Alabama Department of Education has released the Alabama State Report Card, containing a letter grade for schools and school systems across the state. The Report Card reflects several different factors, including academic achievement, academic growth, and chronic absenteeism, as well as graduation rates and college and career readiness for high schools.
