The AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team (AIST) is a 9-month three quarter-time service program beginning October 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020. AIST members commit to serving 1,200 service hours (approximately 38 hours/week). AIST members assist students in pre-school through 12th grade in all Butler County Schools (McKenzie, Georgiana and Greenville). The AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team partners with community projects and particpates in National Service Days throughout the year.
Requirements to become an AIST member: Minimum of 18 years of age, High School Diploma/GED, 60 College Credit Hours Earned/WorkKeys Assessment (with a score of 4 or more in each subject), Pass NSOPW and State/FBI background checks, Reliable Transportation; Pass/Receive an Alabama Substitute License/Certificate.
Benefits to become an AIST member: Monthly Living Allowance ($1,166 gross), Education Award upon completion of 9-months ($4,266.50), Training and Professional Development, Experience in the Education System; Experience in National Service. (AIST members will not be provided Health Insurance or Child Care Benefits because they are not Full-Time members).
