AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team (AIST) members assist teachers in the Butler County School System (BCSS) with the strategic plan to ensure all students are prepared for grade level success, college, and/or career readiness through high-quality teaching and focused experiences for intellectual and social development. Since 1997, The AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team serves in Butler County, Alabama in accordance with state standards, evidence-based research, and individualized student education plans.
AmeriCorps members commit to service for 9-months (Three Quarter-Time) and may serve up to four terms of service (only eligible for two full-time education awards). AIST members assist students daily in pre-school through high school and are involved with community centers and events (Safe Harbor, Relay for Life, Hank Williams Festival, Greenville Public Library's "Super Saturdays", Dunbar Parks & Recreation, Sav-A-Child Outreach Center, Greenville Nutrition and Senior Center, and the Georgiana Public Library).
