More information on AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team (AIST)

 

If you are interested in becoming an AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team member in Butler County, Alabama School System, apply to serve at https//my.americorps.gov/.

The AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team (AIST) is a 9-month three quarter-time service program beginning October 1st through June 30th (Member term of service). AIST members commit to serving 1,200 service hours (approximately 30 hours/week). AIST members assist students in pre-school through 12th grade in all Butler County Schools (McKenzie, Georgiana and Greenville). The AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team partners with community projects and participates in National Service Days throughout the year.

Qualifications to become an AIST member: Minimum of 17 years of age, High School Diploma or GED, 48 College Credit Hours Earned or WorkKeys Assessment (with minimum score of 3 in each subject), Pass a NSOPW and NSCHC (National Service Criminal History Check) with State and FBI background checks, Reliable Transportation; Pass/Receive an Alabama Substitute License/Certificate.

Benefits to become an AIST member: Monthly Living Allowance ($1,380 gross), Education Award upon successful completion of 9-months, Training and Professional Development, Experience in the Education System; Experience in National Service. (Three Quarter-Time AIST members do not receive Health Insurance or Child Care Benefits)
