BCSS Offers Early Return to “In-Person” Option for Virtual Students

The Butler County School System is offering an opportunity for parents/guardians of virtual students to return their children to in-person instruction in October rather than at the end of the first semester in January. Feedback from parents/guardians, staff and community members have indicated that providing an option for students to return to in-school instruction in October is warranted. Students must be enrolled and attend the school in which they are zoned to attend.

Parents/guardians wishing to return their child to in-school instruction should complete an application on-line at the link below or obtain a paper copy of the form from their school or the Board of Education Central Office.  Forms should be submitted to the schools no later than Friday, October 9, 2020Our teachers will also be communicating this information to our virtual students and their parents.  Students returning to in-school instruction from virtual instruction should report to their school for classes on Monday, October 19, 2020.

We continue to make the safety of our students and staff members a priority.  We have numerous mechanisms throughout our schools to ensure that our buildings are sanitary and safe.  Governor Ivey has extended the mask mandate in Alabama through November 8, 2020.  We will continue to implement our return to school plan that includes the mask requirement and practicing social distancing.

I extend my deepest appreciation to our teachers, administrators, and support personnel who have worked so diligently to provide services for our students both in school and through a virtual setting.  I also thank our parents and guardians who have patiently worked with us as we strive to provide the best possible services for our students during the COVID-19 pandemic.  We look forward to greeting our returning students on October 19, 2020.
