Granting 25% of SSUT to Butler County Schools

On Monday, April 10, 2023, the Butler County Commission unanimously adopted a resolution granting the Butler County School System 25% of the Simplified Sellers Use Tax (SSUT), more commonly called “internet sales tax” that Butler County receives from the State of Alabama.

Superintendent Eiland expressed his gratitude to Butler County Commission Members Mr. Joey Peavy, District 1, Mr. Jessie McWilliams, District 2, Mrs. Rebecca Butts, District 3, Mr. Allin Whittle, District 4, and Mr. Darrell Sanders, District 5 for their support and generosity to the school system.  He commended them for their wisdom in recognizing the importance of supporting public education in our community. 

Superintendent Eiland stated this action by the Butler County Commission is evidence that our community members acknowledge and appreciate the importance of a cooperative spirit between the school system, local governments, and our citizens to promote and improve education for the children of Butler County.  Superintendent Eiland noted that any investment made toward education would reap benefits for generations to come.  He stated that he felt privileged to work in a community that prioritizes the education of its students.
